Percy Henry Forsey - A Soldier Of The Great War

who died on
Saturday, 28th April 1917. Age 20.
History
Percy was born in Bristol England on the 12th March 1896, his parents were my 2nd Great Grandparents John Forsey and Lucy (Drew).
Percy moved to Canada with his father John and his sister Ellen Mary (my Great Grandmother) around 1903/4.
His father John by then had lost both his parents, his wife Lucy, his daughter Agnes and three of his brothers.
While in Canada Percy served in the 11th C.A.M.C. (Canadian Army Medical Corps) for 1year.

His address at the time was given as Toronto and his trade was a Buttermaker.
He sailed for England with the 83rd Battalion on the SS Olympic (sister ship of Titanic) which left Halifax on the 28/04/1916. The ship reached Liverpool on the 07/05/1916.
On the 28 Jun 1916 he was transferred to the 3rd. Battalion and joined his unit on the 27 Jul 1916.
The Active Service Casualty Form lists the following;
29 Jul 1916 Joined unit in the field.
24 Sep 1916 he was admitted for sore/blistered feet rejoining his unit on the 26/10/1916 as stated but this date could be 26/09/1916 as the next line shows he was admitted again on the 29/09/1916 again for sore feet and was returned to duty the same day.
09 Oct 1916 he suffered a contusion to his knee caused by a shell.
15 Oct 1916 he appears to have suffered from concussion returning to duty with his unit on the 17/10/1916.
Then finally on the 25 Apr 1917 he was mortally wounded by a shell. The nature of the wounds were stated as Shrapnel wound to Right Shoulder and Left leg fracture.
Percy died of his wounds on the 28/04/1917 and was buried at Aubigny Cemetery France.
