The Pykkerell Inn Ixworth

Welcome to The Pykkerell Web Site!
We are glad you have managed to find us and hope you enjoy what you see here. The Pykkerell dates back to 1530 and was a coaching inn on the London to Norwich coach route. The building has many interesting architectural features which still include the Stables, probably built by John Garrard around 1550. Constructed of flint rubble base with red brick lower section and bricknogging between timber stridding to the jettied upper storey.
The parapet gables are crow stepped and the unglazed mullion windows would have originally had wooden shutters. The Pykkerell is situated approximately 7 miles to the north-east of Bury St Edmunds, off the A143 truck road to Diss in the quaint village of Ixworth, a typical old Suffolk village of historical interest. The Pykkerell is approximately half way down the high street on the Right-hand Side (approaching from Bury St Edmunds) and has a large, well sign posted, car park at the rear. There are two bars and a restaurant with open fires and period rooms. Luxury Accommodation is also available at affordable prices.Don't forget, our pages are always being updated, so add us to your favourites and come back and visit us soon.
