This Page is another avenue of my hobby as a Radio Ham the receiving of weather images, from the various weather satellites that are constantly monitoring the earths climate, NASA has a big involvement in the Launch of weather satellites as well as other agency's

Weather Images taken at my location, using the TIMESTEP weather receiver made by Timestep the Ariel is a home brew QFH, the signal is picked up from the appropriate Satellite as it passes over head by the Prosat Timestep. receiver and the data is fed into the PC sound card, and that when the appropriate satellite software takes over and then processes the data signal into picture form, as below. click to enlarge the image

NOAA Stands for National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration

Noaa 12 was Launched from Vandenberg  Air Force Base on an Atlas E. Rocket .

Noaa 14 was Launched on May 14th 1991 from the Western Missile Launch Centre using a Atlas E. Launch Vehicle.

            

The Programs I use for processing the images are as follows, Christian Brock of Freiburgh, for his program WXSAT, processes the data signal, Les Hamilton's Footprint for satellite tracking both are excellent programs, also Scott Hather's program Satscape for satellite tracking, last but not least David Taylor's program Satsignal for generating the picture images ,any of these programs can be downloaded from GEO on that site you will find an abundance of information and software should you feel the need to become involved in weather imaging, My last page will give you all the links that you need,
