Family

Prior to WW11 Ken worked for tne grocer's "Victor Value " (now Tesco's) and after service in the Royal Navy, returned to them in 1945. He was working in the Norbury branch when he was promoted to Assistant Manager, but this meant that he had to travel all over the country at short notice. This was totally unnaceptable, and in 1948 he got a job as an Attendant at the National Gallery in London where his mothers (Bertha Elizabeth ) future second husband Fred Woods (uncle Fred) was working. Ken continued to work at the Gallery in various positions until his retirement through ill health in 1978 (aged 63).
On his retirement and whilst still not well, Ken and Joan purchased aCaravan on Hayling Island , where they spent many happy summers untilKens death in August 1985.
