Family

After 22 years in the Royal Navy, including service on the "Tiger" atJutland and numerous Submarines, Stephen was pensioned off in 1936. He then joined the Post Office, only to be mobilised in 1938, and again in 1940.
He returned home to 39, Bay Rd. Gosport in July 1945. The family thenmoved to London (23, Hawkhurst Rd. Streatham) and work was resumed with the Post Office at Mount Pleasant Sorting Office.
On his retirement in 1954, Stephen, Amy and their youngest daughter, Muriel, moved to a new bungalow at 46, Sandymount Ave. Bognor. Their time was taken up with Bee-keeping and Gardening, and Steve would spendmany hours in his shed trying to build a "Perpetual Motion" machine, and working with his sock knitter.
Joan, their eldest daughter, and family would often visit in the summer for holidays. The bungalow was only 20 minutes walk from the sea viaHotham Park (Where Butlins now stands) Feasts were always on hand with fresh honeycomb, strawberries, and veg's.
Our most memorable holiday was when we all went to Lee-over-sands near Clacton, where we swam, chased Rabbits and watched for "Smugglers"
