Cigarette Packets


"The Cigarette Packet" is compiled and edited at Sutton Wind Mill and The Broads Museum  in Norfolk. This is the official magazine of the Cigarette Packet Collectors Club of Great Britain, produced quarterly. For further information on the club, contact Chris Nunn at broadsmuseum@btinternet.com

This is an early example of a special cigarette and box made to commemorate a specific event, which was the French Fleet's visit to Portsmouth in August 1905. Note the insert coupon, which entitles the holder to one tankard of ale (this was not redeemed).

These dates from about 1890 and are from a set of ten 'Whitlock Ladies'. 

 

A live box of "Craven" by Carreras & Marcianus complete with inserts:
"We respectfully invite you to smoke one of These Cigarettes with Any Other Cigarette you may be used to, and we leave it to your judgment as to the quality."
