I'm Bryan Hoggarth (GLS, UK) and this site is for HOGGARTHs in general and also my own family.  A tip - the little sheep are links to many other pages.  Before you have read them all some of them will have changed.  (I am aware that this site is rather old fashioned but British Heritage have placed an injunction on me to the effect that though I can alter the content I'm not allowed to change the style; 01/04/07)

Y-DNA This link takes you to a record of what my DNA looks like.  If you are a HOG(G)AR* and have the same pattern or something very close then we probably have a common male ancestor.  Women cannot play this game themselves since they have no Y chromosomes but they can use brothers or male cousins.
Well we now have a result - Rod H of Bournemouth had his done and it shows that the Egton and Ugthorpe branches have a common male ancestor - so we are cousins.

Who was Who in 1841.  I'm working on a page where we list "everyone " called HOGGARTHish in the North Riding of Yorkshire and figure out what family Branch they belong to.  Have a look here and email me your thoughts.

The HOGGARTH branches around NRY (North Riding of Yorkshire)  .

- HOG* Records.

- Index of Wills and some other old documents with some full transcriptions and if not a note of the names mentioned.  Not just my family but also quite a few others I have picked up on the off chance that they may mention my family.  They are mostly from the Esk valley or Dauntsey areas.

People and Places . This is mostly related to my family but visitors are welcome as long as they wipe their feet.

The ALLIN family of Dauntsey, Wiltshire and Great Fryup in Glaisdale/Danby, NRY .

I mostly concentrate on HOG*s in North Yorkshire.  For a wider perspective have a look around Rod Hogarth's site (The HOGARTH FAMILY PAGES) where there is a Noticeboard and a Forum for gossip and requests for help and lots more information on HOG*s.

Here's a request for help from Carol CUNNINGHAM & Betty DOMES - The photo is entitled "Jones Couple" and is thought to be an early British Columbian marriage with some HOGARTH connection.      Any one recognise the people or place?  The direction of the stripes on the chaps tie indicate that the wedding was on the west side of the Atlantic.
