Lewis Family visiting West Horden Farm Sent to me by Mary Young (nee Lewis). On the copy below I have numbered the people and identified them where I could, Mary has given me her best guess. The photo was taken about 1936/7.

This picture was emailed to me by Mary Young. I believe it was taken when visiting "uncle Allins Farm" which was probably West Horden farm which he used to manage for the NCB before they built Peterlee on it. Seated with the baby is Charlotte Annie HOGGARTH nee CLUBLEY (23 April 1882 to 1 April 1942). Charlotte married Stephenson HOGGARTH on 8 January 1906 and is therefore the sister-in-law of Allin HOGGARTH (2nd) standing behind her. To the right of Charlotte is her daughter Hannah Abigail HOGGARTH, 17 Jan 1909 to 1 Nov 1992, who married John LEWIS. The girl is Hannah's daughter Mary LEWIS (now YOUNG) and the baby is Hannah's son David.  Mary had the young man at the back as "nephew". I'm 90% certain it is Reg HOGGARTH my father.

The photo below I obtained from my mother some years ago.  It was in March 2003 when I noticed that the writing on the back said the young boy on the left was called LEWIS and I twigged that it was probably a relative of Mary YOUNG nee LEWIS.  Sure enough it is her younger brother.  Identification of the youngsters on the right came from cousin Doug HOGGARTH whose father took the photo.  If Uncle Ron had not had a camera we'd be really short of family pictures.  From the ages of the children I'd say this was taken in 1948.
