| This Photograph was emailed to me by Mary YOUNG (nee LEWIS), daughter of Hannah Abigail HOGGARTH, daughter of Stephenson HOGGARTH who was the brother of Allin HOGGARTH (2nd) who married Alice on 15th May 1909, in Boosbeck and this may be Alice in her wedding dress. Alice was born to Clara WILDON in Ryder Square, Malton on 13 July 1888. Her birth certificate gives no father. The informant was Clara who gave her address as Greengate, Malton. In the Malton baptism record the address is given as Ryder Square, which a triangle off Greengate, and the parents are given as Clara and Arthur WILDON. The marriage certificate of Alice to Allin HOGGARTH (15 May 1909, Boosebeck) gives for her: Alice WILDON age 20 Spinster of Moorsholm, father Arthur WILDON, miner. (Why did Alice say he was a miner? Arthur Marsh was presumably still living at 31 Florence Street, Middlesbrough - he was there in 1891 and 1915 - and there is no reason the believe that he gave up the steel works to go mining and then went back to the steel works. Maybe there really is an Arthur Wildon) Alice is buried, grave 7,5Q Hutton Henry Cemetary, according to A R Conlin in his letter of 14 May 1986 to Bryan Hoggarth. |
