Another poor Disney transfer, this one following the increasing trend from the company for non-anamorphic prints. Even allowing for that, things are none to good here, with a good deal of artefacts on show and blacks that ain't so black.

The Dolby Surround mix is subtle to say the least - the surrounds barely have anything to do. Not necessarily a bad thing in this kind of film but, with no extras, it makes for a dull disc.

Strictly for fans of the film only.

Episodic tale of two generations of two dysfunctional liberal Canadian families. Well acted and often painfully truthfully observed, the film fails as a whole - it's a bit like watching a video of a road accident. Devoid of actual plot and eventually weighed down by redundant incident and tragedy, the ice-laden imagery results just adds to the frosty reception.
