- Location
- The entrance to the cave is unusual in being situated 1750
metres inside a Welsh Water tunnel. The Tunnel entrance being
in Cwm Carno, Beaufort, approximately 3km from Brynmawr. The
grid reference given is for the tunnel entrance.
- Access
- Access is controlled by Brynmawr Caving Club on behalf of
Welsh Water plc.
Keys are held by eight members of BCC and are responsible for
the welfare of visiting cavers. Caving trips will be overseen
by the key holders who will open and lock the gate and, where
possible, be inside the cave for the duration of the trip.
Visiting cavers are free to explore providing that they fill
in the log book and inform BCC of any finds they make. There
is no restriction on size of party but safe caving practice is
insisted upon.

Ogof Carno (or more usually just Carno) is a natural cave that
was opened up after several years of digging in the tunnel. It
is an arduous cave with many climbs, crawls and areas of loose
boulders. It should only be entered by fit and experienced cavers
with competent leaders.
