 GUIDED WALKS PROGRAMME

The group has an extensive programme of guided walks throughout the year, usually three or four walks per week, and mostly in the local area although some take place further a field. The length of the walks varies between five and fifteen miles with the most popular length being about eight miles. The programme is published three time a year at the end of November, March and July.

The nature of the local terrain is mostly flat so little ascent is involved, the largest variation of the walks being in their speed, some leaders preferring a brisk pace. These variations are noted in the programme.

The local ground can be very muddy and the costal areas extremely windy so warm waterproof and wind proof clothing and waterproof boots are essential most of the time. It is also a good idea to bring food and drink since on shorter walks a "coffee break" is usual. Pub stops are usual on longer walks. Pub car parks can also usually be used at the start of a walk although you are expected to purchase food or drink in recompense.

Non-members of the Ramblers' are welcome to participate in up to three walks before deciding whether to join but everyone participates in a guided walk at their own risk and neither the Ramblers' or the Walk Leader take any responsibility for individual safety. A Leader reserves the right to refuse anyone who he feels is inappropriately equipped. Anyone who leaves a walk before the completion is expected to inform the Leader.
