All sporting and leisure activities have inherent hazards associated with them and rambling is no exception. In spite of the safety of members always being of paramount concern, accidents will occasionally occur. It is important, therefore, that when entering into the activity, each member/walker appreciates that they have a responsibility to identify the hazards associated with the activity and take all reasonable steps to eliminate or minimise the potential for an accident to arise. Our current programme asks you "To ensure that a walk takes place please contact the Leader beforehand to register an interest". There is no obligation to do so but if no one does then there is no certainty that the Walk Leader will be present at the Start. We have added this suggestion to the programme to try and avoid frustration on the part of leaders when they arrive at the start of a walk to find that there are no walkers. |
