After cleaning what's the best way to keep my carpets looking their best?

Regular vacuuming will keep your carpets looking their best and we recommend an upright vacuum cleaner with a beater. Grit works itself deep into the pile of your carpets and is a major cause of wear. Only an upright cleaner with a beater can effectively remove it.

I strongly recommend the SEBO range of vacuum cleaners. One of their popular models is pictured on the right. 
In my opinion their effectiveness and reliability is unrivalled. 

How should I treat stains?

Plain soda water is better and kinder to your carpets than most proprietary cleaners, so keep a bottle with your other cleaning products and when needed pour a little soda water on the spill or stain, leave on the carpet for 30 seconds to a minute and then blot up with a clean white terry towel or non patterned kitchen paper. Avoid printed areas of kitchen paper or dark coloured towels as colour transfer may occur.

What causes the black lines around the outside of my carpet?

These are called dust filtration marks and are caused by natural convection of air around your house. Where you have a void beneath a floor, air will circulate though this space and a siphon effect is created, which draws the air in your room down through the carpet. The carpet then acts as a filter and collects minute particles of carbon which build up over a period of time to create the black marks. It is a popular misconception that these marks are made by dust coming up through the floor.

On some carpets these marks can be easily removed with cleaning, however on other carpets these marks can be impossible to remove completely.

I had my carpets cleaned and they got dirty quicker after cleaning, why?

When carpets are cleaned using a shampoo or other soap based solution, the sticky residue left behind can cause a carpet to re-soil quickly after cleaning.
