P & O Princess Cruise Liner
At the planning stage of where to go for this year's "Summer" outing, someone on the Committee observed that a P & O Princess cruise liner was visiting Invergordon, which is within reach. "What a good idea", came from someone else, and the project of what to aim for on our annual outing had the keel laid.
The task was given to a P & O pensioner and contact was made with the parent company who couldn't have been more helpful.
Security arrangements for the visit to the "Royal Princess" were stressed from the outset. The P & O Company and the Harbour Master, Invergordon, required in advance a detailed list of names and addresses of the group, and all visitors had to carry photo I.D. with them.
P & O supplied a very attractive guide from head office to smooth our path and gain access for our bus-load to the ship. We were given a guided tour of the vessel and our visit was rounded off with a four-course lunch, with wine. Just couldn't have been better.
We hope our guide enjoyed her brief visit to Scotland as much as we enjoyed our visit to the "Royal Princess".
