Buckie
Buckie is a small coastal fishing town situated in the North-east of Scotland. At the turn of the last century it was one of the largest herring ports in Scotland rivalling even Aberdeen. Sadly, these halcyon days have passed and although there is still a small local fleet, the bulk of our fishermen are based elsewhere at the east coast ports of Peterhead and Fraserburgh.
We still have a shipyard, which is kept busy refitting and repairing fishing vessels etc. as well as occasional shipbuilding.
A great deal of our work force finds employment in the North Sea oil industry which has brought considerable income to the town these last 20 years or so, not to mention employing many of our skilled people.
Shortly we will update this page with some pictures of Buckie.
