19 Grange Road

Grange Road runs parallel to Main Street, and therefore along the back of the first four of our historical sites, ending at the Village Green. The open land has in the past been used as an Army encampment, but now the area is known for more peaceful pursuits. In recent times modern buildings have been erected to accommodate the Library and the Medical Centre. The Bowling Green is at the end of Grange Park and the Cricket Club is across the road.

Burley Cricket Club has been in existence from the 1850s. It led a nomadic existence before buying Hodson Park in 1924. Victoria Park, the Recreation Ground and Walton Park were used at various stages between 1850 and 1924. Even Menston's Ground was used for a season after World War One. The club has played in the Airedale and Wharfedale League since 1908. A wooden Pavilion was used until 1937, when a brick built one, costing £650, replaced it.
