5 The Village Green
When this area was the centre of the village, there were more buildings on the green area than today. There was a blacksmiths and tannery opposite the Malt Shovel and this remained in use until the 1930's. Many of the old properties were cleared in the 1960s.
For some time afterwards the open area was not much more than a wasteland, but over the last few years it has been re-landscaped by the local community with the help of donations from businesses and fund raising.
