- PERMACULTURE - A WEEKEND FOR BEGINNERS
(23 - 25 MAY 2008)

will include: sustainable design principles and ethics, organic gardening,
community economics, forest gardening, optional yoga sessions, 'hands

- 6TH ANNUAL BRISTOL VEGAN FAYRE (31ST
MAY - 1ST JUNE 2008)
This event will be held in the centre of Bristol and runs between
11am and 9pm on both days. All
the leading veggie/vegan suppliers, campaigners, products, people and projects
will be showcased in supreme style, with the emphasis firmly on entertainment,
education, inspiration and superb shopping opportunities! The

- INTRODUCTION TO PERMACULTURE - A WEEKEND
FOR BEGINNERS (21 - 22 JUNE 2008)
Venue:
Brixton, South London - although exact venue to be confirmed. This
Introductory weekend is being organised as a partnership between Transition Town Brixton and
Naturewise. It is a ‘potted’
permaculture course with an urban flavour, looking at the foundations of
permaculture and learning about some of the practical tools it offers. The
weekend course can be considered a 'stand alone' introduction to Permaculture
ethics, principles and design, or else can be a lead-in to the more in depth
full 72 hour Permaculture Design Course. Cost: Sliding scale - full
cost £120 for the weekend, concessions and flexibility available subject

- SPONSORED WALK FOR ST FRANCIS ANIMAL WELFARE
- We are Gemma and Ben, two vegans living
in Southampton, who are undertaking
a 190 mile sponsored walk from one coast of Britain
to another to raise money for St. Francis Animal Welfare (registered
charity number 263172). St. Francis takes in both domestic and wild animals
and looks after them until they can be placed with loving homes or released
back into the wild. It is their policy to never put a healthy animal

- HELP NEEDED TO MONITOR CLIMATE CHANGE

- THE VEGAN HEALTH STUDY - The
Institute of Nutrition Education and Research is looking for
both vegan and non-vegan volunteers to fill in a questionnaire. The purpose
of this study (which is overseen by Dr Michael Klaper) is to increase understanding
of the health effects of plant-based nutrition. Please write to: Institute

APPEAL - Support the World Society for the Protection
of Animals in their valuable work to end the medieval torture of thousands
of bears who are kept in tiny cages on China's bear farms and 'milked'
for their bile, a torment that can continue for 5-10 years until their
