Welcome to the official website of the Leighton Buzzard Railway--one of Britain’s leading narrow-gauge heritage railways, currently celebrating 40 years of successful operation. And now a media star as well, on The One Show (BBC1 TV), and You And Yours (BBC Radio 4).
We are open on every Sunday and Bank Holiday weekend until the end of October, plus Wednesdays throughout July, extending to 5 days a week from 27th July. Visit our Timetables page for full details of dates and times.
If you are one of the many people who live within easy distance of us, and are feeling the pinch from fuel prices, come and discover your local attractions this summer! Family tickets make us even better value for tight budgets--and unless you are bringing 10 or more people, there’s no need to book in advance.
If you come from further afield, turn off the M1 and discover a little of the real Bedfordshire--while it’s still there!
The new dual-carriageway from Milton Keynes to Leighton Buzzard has brought some changes to familiar routes and road numbers in our area. The road access from the town centre has also changed. Maps and satnavs may therefore be out of date, so check our How To Find Us page for assistance.
One of the challenges we face, as you will see above, is a planning application to develop what is currently Green Belt land, and the last remaining stretch of open countryside on a line that was almost totally rural when we took it over, 40 years ago. Find out more on our Latest News page--and please let those responsible for the decisions know what you think!
You will find lots of information about us by clicking the navigation bar on the left, and exploring the website. If you prefer good old-fashioned paper, email us to request any of our leaflets, remembering to give us your full postal address. If you have broadband, we can send you leaflets as PDF files, on request.
We are a non-profit organisation, run and managed by volunteers. We have many openings for anyone who wants to put a skill to good use, or maybe even learn some new ones. Come and talk to us!
Large-print copies of any page of this website will be supplied on request.
