I used to have the old filter painted silver, it looked better but still al little naff and cumbersome. I now have a lovely chrome filter with the immortal K&N printed on it. Here are the two compared, which do u think is better? heh.
Old Sprayed disc
New K&N (much smaller)
Right now we have a problem, what the hell do we do with the breather hose that used to go into the old filter?? Well u can buy a filter for the rocker breather hose for aroun £12, or do what i did which is grab and indigo© bottle (nice drink) punch a hole in the side for the pipe to go into, and a small hole in the cap with some medical gauze over it. Not only does it collect any spilt oil and sort out any dodgey smells, but it also look uhh interesting? odd? wierd?
Indigo© Bottle in place
I also sprayed the metal disc's at the top of the suspension silver, to do this i just wrapped up a lot of the engine bay in paper and masking tape, very messy but it looks good as you can see by the small picture.
I then painted the rockerbox cover matt black with some heat resistent paint, i used similar paint to transform the manifold making it look a little better. This silver heat resistant paint was also used on the exhuast and the engine winch points
There are a few features that wont get a mention anywhere else so i may as well mention them here, they are hidden away under the bonnet so i may as well show them here. One of the more rescent additions to my car was an air horn from halfords. Only £15 but very loud and not to difficult to fit. it replaces the
old horn and requires a relay, but if u have a knowledge of wiring its easy enough to do.
Im saving for a clutch, oh joy! anyone know where to get a cheap recon?
