Right On with the features. The Haed unit is an aiwa CDC-X126 and is rated at 40w X 4, this may not be the best around but it is fine for me. I think its a nice looking unit and suits the car. It has an infra red port for a remote, but i dont see much point in buying a remote as i can reach
the stereo from the drivers seat, and i dont want passengers messing with my tunes.
After a lot of trouble with my astra i now remove the face off and keep it seprate from the car whenever i leave it, the speakers are also taken in at night as my first set of 6X9's were stolen along with the
parcel shelf of my astra.
Bellow is a picture of the Head unit, also visable is my small green strobe on the dash which is worked by a switch under the dash, right of the steering wheel.
Of course the most important part of a stereo system after the head unit is the speakers, as i mentioned i have a pair of Pioneer TS-A6957 6X9's which are rated at 180watts, this is of course rubbish and they are actualy more like 40watt RMS, anything rated in PMPO is making things up!
These are not a bad pair of speakers, infact the quality is great, however they are not to good at handeling lotsa bass, but then again i would like a sub to do that for me.
The Speakers are house in a box which is hardly ever left in the car, the box is sized so if need be, i can drop down half the rear seats and the box pulle dinto the passenger cabi, greatly increasing the volume inside the car, other wise they just sit beneath the shelf and rumble a bit.
The problem with my car is due to its age, things have worked their way loose and well if i turn the volume to high, bits start to vibrate, i am going to spend a good weekend some time tightening things up as it is starting to anoy me!
