Sybil is in hospital, so Basil is in charge and as one would expect, things start going wrong. A fire drill, soon becomes the real thing after Manuel is locked in the burning kitchen. Basil ends up knocking himself out, and joins Sybil in hospital, from where he promptly escapes.

Upon his return to the hotel Basil, still delirious from his bang on the head encounters a group of German guests who have just checked in and procedes to offend them by mentioning the war.
