Wooburn Grange or Wooburn Grange Country Club to give it it's full name, was the building used as the outside of Fawlty Towers. As with all the other outside locations used in the series it is nowhere near Torquay, it is in fact near Bourne End in Buckinghamshire.

As well as acting as a film set, Wooburn Grange in it's life time, has been a nightclub (Basil's), a restaurant and for a brief time an actual hotel. It's career ended after not one but two fires gutted the building.

The remains of the building made way for a new housing estate.

If you should wish to go and visit this historic site then it is about one mile outside Bourne End on the A4094 towards Wooburn Green, or alternatively travel by train to Bourne End via Maidenhead.
