Wallace Monument, Stirling, Scotland
The Wallace Monument was constructed in
Victorian times to commemerate the battle
of Stirling bridge where William Wallace defeated
the Invading Army of the evil despot Edward I.
Wallaces sword is on display
here. You can climb the tower via a narrow
winding staircase inside, it takes a bit of
time but the view from the top is worth the effort.
There are several rooms inside the tower,
with displays of local history,
Scottish heroes and scientists.There
is a tea room in the base of the tower
(you will need a cup of tea after climbing
to the top).
