Wendy Sudbury |
|
From 1989 to 1997 Wendy Sudbury was Chief Executive of the Museum Documentation Association (MDA) the UK's national advisory & standards-setting body for cultural heritage information-management and retrieval. During her period of office she had to rebuild and refocus the organisation on multimedia, on-line services and "the information society" within constraints of a fixed budget. Before joining the MDA Wendy Sudbury had over 20 years experience of marketing and general management in the European consumer electronics and telecommunications industries, at a time when both industries were undergoing fundamental restructuring. Since 1991 she has also been an Associate Lecturer for the Open University Business School, tutoring distance-learning students and running seminars in Strategic Management and Performance Measurement. Dr Sudbury's work at the MDA is recognised as a model 'turnaround' and example of effective management in the public sector. In 1997 Wendy Sudbury was appointed a Commissioner of the Royal Commission for Historic Monuments of England, when she also joined the Cambridge Management Group as co-principal and Director. In addition Dr Sudbury is a project reviewer for the UK Heritage Lottery Fund and The European Commission. Wendy Sudbury has an MA from Cambridge University and a PhD from Cranfield School of Management where her thesis topic was on the organisational implications of strategic marketing strategies. |
