Our Minister: Rev Peter Strong

Peter worked for Kettering Borough Council until his decision to move on with the aim to become an Ordained Baptist Minister.  This process will take some time but having successfully overcome the first hurdle of the Regional Recognition Committee he now has to find a church to minister to for 12 - 18 months.  This is where Peter and Carey come together, we, as a church have decided to call Peter to be our part time Pastor and he has willingly accepted our invitation.  After this initial period Peter will apply to the Baptist Union for recognition and then take up a full time pastorate.

Peter was fully trained at Bristol University & Baptist College some 30 years ago, and having been told to take time out before going into ministry. This is time he is still taking but he now feels the time is right to take up the calling full time.  At present Peter and his family attend Fuller Baptist Church where they are members and Peter has served as a Deacon for 20 years until for 1999.  As an active Baptist in the Kettering area he has preached regularly in many of the churches in the association.

Peter became closely associated with Carey when he was our Moderator in 1998/9.  After being our moderator he went on to be the moderator at Mill Road Baptist Church in Wellingborough and Park Road Baptist Church in Rushden, who have recently called a minister. Peter's close connections have continued and he has always assisted Carey whenever possible.

The Induction Service was on February 6th 2005 with  Rev. Nigel Coles as the guest speaker. Nigel is the son of Alan Coles who many will know and is the Regional Minister for the West of England Baptist Association.

The induction was performed by our own Regional Minister, the Reverend Geoffrey Colmer.
