GENERAL INFORMATION

The Knights of 3 Kingdoms are one of the oldest and largest guilds, having been established 4 years ago by Timescape.

The knights, like their predecessors of old, revel in physical pursuits and excel at physical combat, relying on the power of the weapons they wield to defeat their foes rather than using the arcane power of magic. The knights hold a unique position on 3k in that they are the only guild to rely heavily on equipment to be an effective fighting force.

All knights are bound by a strict honor code by which they must strive to live. Many young aspirants have found this code too restrictive or too great a burden to bear and have chosen to withdraw from the ranks of the knights. Although their passing is mourned by those that have remained, their decision is understood, for not everyone can become a knight. Those that remain to not consider the honor code a burden but instead look upon it as the defining feature that makes the guild different from all the other guilds.

Guild Structure

When a knight has advanced far enough in their training, they may join one of the four orders which represent the guild. Each order strives to perfect different areas of hand to hand combat.

Order of the Iron Lance - An Order dedicated to prowess in battle, they glory in battle, believing that success in combat comes through dispatching your foe as quickly as possible. They are the weaponmasters of the Guild, highly trained in all forms of combat. As a result of their extensive weapons training, they have neglected their skills in all forms of defence and healing.

Order of the Obsidian Shield - An Order dedicated to unyielding courage in battle. The masters of defence, these knights believe that through blocking their opponents blows they will emerge unscathed through a battle, ready to fight once more. These knights are highly trained in the use and preparation of armour and highly skilled in the ability to turn aside their opponents' blows. As a result of this training they have neglected to hone their weapon and healing skills to their fullest potential.

Order of the Emerald Grail - This is a compassionate Order dedicated to the relief of suffering in battle. Members of this Order believe that no matter how powerful the foe, the victor will be the combatant that can recover from the most severe of wounds. Unlike the Lance and Shield Orders, this Order accepts that in combat even the weakest of foes will score hits in combat. As such, members of this order are highly trained in all forms of healing. Such is the time taken to master these skills, members of this Order have neglected to hone their skills in weapon and armour use.

Order of the Golden Crown - Unconvinced that the three other Orders are right, a group of Knights have recently formed a fourth Order. Crown Knights believe that to truly excel in battle, a Knight must be well versed in weapons use, armour use, and healing skills. Any emphasis in any one of these styles will lead to almost certain defeat. As a result of practicing all three skills, Crown Knights are good at all three, yet masters of none.

The guild structure was previously broken up into 2 paths - the light path and the dark path. Each path was separate in its outlook and goals, and yet all were knights bound by the same honor code.

Light Path members would have been traditionally regarded as paladins -- those knights who would seek to aid the forces of good throughout 3 kingdoms. They shared a deep compassion and commitment to caring for the sick and wounded , choosing to heal rather than destroy like their dark brethren. Light path knights tended to have increased healing abilities over their dark brethren.

Dark Path members would have been traditionally regarded as anti-paladins -- those knights who had turned their thoughts from the healing and caring for the wounded to combat and strength at arms. To be a dark knight was to be a knight that revels in combat and destruction. They were finely honed fighting machines capable of tremendous destruction who only find true joy and happiness in the midst of combat. As a result of this, dark path knights tended to have better combat orientated skills than their light brethren.
