New European Research FP7
CATechnology has been very active within European research programmes and has a detailed, 'hands-on', knowledge of all stages of the submission process. This includes partner search, proposal writing, submission, evaluation, contract negotiation and, with colleagues at LERMPS, project management and coordination.
The next European initiative, FP7, is expected to start in early 2007 and CAT is already helping companies to formualate plans for proposals, establishing consortia and drafting outlines.
A number of areas of current interest are listed below. Please contact us if you would like further information or would like to discuss your own proposals.
Current areas of interest for FP7 Projects
SEALCOAT 2. Abradable Seals for HP Compressors and Turbines. Building upon the success of a previous European project "SEALCOAT" we wish to extend this work to increase the scope of the model and to extend it to cover turbine sections.
POWDERNET. The importance of powders, especially those made up of nano-constituents, will be further enhanced with the drive to optimise the use of resources and as new methods of fabrication are adopted. In Europe, the industrial use of powders is spead accross most sectors and involves large numbers of SME's. The scope of this project would be to provide a Concreted action to enhance the technology base of these SME's.
EXPRESSWAY. Globalisation is moving business’s emphasis away from basic technologies towards “information and knowledge”. Indeed, knowledge based processes and products have become a new paradigm. As such, the management (control and retrieval) and use of data has become a central activity both for companies themselves and, increasingly, within wider supply chains. Adding “value” to data and creating “knowledge” will be a key element of future business growth. Handling and, more importantly, exploiting the current explosion of electronic information represents a real challenge to companies. However, the emergence of new, semantic tools which can “intelligently” interrogate and manipulate data could turn a potential problem into an opportunity.
