Fatigue

Fatigue Failure

Fatigue failure is a progressive, localised and permanent damage which appears in those parts under fluctuating stress and strain. It may result in cracks or fractures after a sufficient number of cycles. It can be considered as a conbination of cyclic stress, tensile stress and strains. If any of them is not present, fatigue failure will not initiate or propagate. Many of fatigue cracks initiate and grow from structural defects.
