Played 5 new songs which were disappointing. The old stuff sounded terrific though

Better than the night before 'Trial of tears' was great, but the Killing Hand/Another Hand was just blow-away - James's vice was the tops!

The Shepherds Bush Empire, London

Does it get any better than this - I don't think so! Blow-away stuff

Angra
Support: Eldritch

Le Transbourder, Lyon, France

The support bands were Ok, but Angra were excellent. Came over on stage as a more Heavy Metal band than a prog/Metal band, but excellent all the same.

Excellent. The stuff from the new album sounded great!

Jadis
Support: Mr So & So

The Astoria II, London

Went on the advice of the 'Classic Rock Society's magazine. Was the first time I'd ever heard Jadis and found them OK enough to buy a CD - need to listen to them more, I think. Missed Mr So & So's show again.

Mmmmhhh! Not quite my kind of thing. The stuff I knew from 'Jurassic Shift' was great, but found the new stuff a bit too jazzy/jammy for my liking.

Sun 30/11/97

Whitesnake
Support: ???

The Mayflower, Southampton

Pretty awful support act for a start. Coverdale's voice wasn't at its best. A long way to go for a pretty average show.

Support: Vanden Plas

Concert of the year. Removed all the doubts in my mind over whether they had lost it in the course of recording 'Falling into Infinity'.
