For over 15 years, Lorne Supplies (formerly Lorne Taxidermy Supplies) have been furnishing customers by mail order with their requirements for their particular craft.

Lorne Supplies began as purely a taxidermy supply company and therefore it still chiefly offers items necessary for the taxidermy trade. You will find in the following pages: books and magazines on and about animal anatomy, taxidermy and woodcarving; galvanised wire and woodwool for traditional body making, or alternatively, the more modern expanded foam forms – some of our rigid foam forms were created by the distinguished sculptor/taxidermist Mike Wyndham-Smith; there are chemicals for the preservation and tanning of skins; a selection of beautifully finished shields and bases in either hardwood or, if preferred, the cheaper oak veneered MDF to complete the setting up of your finished mount. Naturally no finished piece would be any good without good quality eyes.

We can offer you a wide variety of glass eyes, the smallest of which is a mere 1mm in diameter and the largest of which is 250mm!! The styles available are from simple black glass eyes, or clear glass eyes with or without black pupils, which you can colour yourself, to exquisitely hand crafted, blown glass eyes.

For the taxidermist, wood and decoy carvers there are at least 52 different colours in the glass eyes for birds range; more than 3 dozen different colours in the glass eyes for fish range and many more colours to choose from in the glass eyes for mammals or the reptile range. Alternatively, you could choose from our smaller range of acrylic eyes for either birds or mammals.

Collectable teddy bear makers can choose from 3 styles of black glass eyes with loops (for ease of attachment), clear glass eyes to be painted in the colour of your choice, or alternatively, there are no less than 10 transparent colours to select from, 14 painted colours, as well as any of the bird eyes on wire range (the wire can be cut and looped for attachment) giving a huge choice. There are also 3 lovely colours in enamelled glass eyes with slit pupils for cats, plus 13 different shaped black glass noses with loop attachment suitable for bears or cats.

Collectable doll and model makers also have a wide choice of colours, styles and sizes, from a mere 2mm diameter of solid glass eyes on wire to large 38mm blown glass eyes. There are at least 86 subtle shades in some 20 different styles. Shapes vary from round to oval eyes or shell, from solid glass, hollow blown glass.
