need directions?


Training nights are Tuesday and Thursday 7pm - 9pm.   U11's (for 9 & 10 year olds) training session 6pm every Tuesday.  

  

  Essex Champs Days 2&3  - 14th/15th at  Havering. SWL R2 Reading on 21st May.  SML R2  Cambridge (Div 2) & Chelmsford  (Div 3N).  EYAL R2  on 22nd at Watford.

May 10th
Sarah McIIwain-Bates takes gold in the Discus with 28.82 at the Essex champs.  Sarah along with a number of other Chelmsford athletes made their impression on day 1 at Colchester.  Other winners were Anna Parkins in the U13 LJ in 4.26, this was a Chelmsford 1,2,3 with Silver going to Ellie Besford and Bronze to Elizabeth Ridley.  Laura Condron won the 1500m for U15G, Marc Reynolds took the U13 1500 gold and Deji Akande in the 200m for u15's.Whilst in the U17 pole Vault Michael Read improved the club record to 3.40 and took bronze medal in the process. May 5th
4th place for Hannah Besford in a very competitive Pentathlon.  Hannah added 200 points to her pb on Monday in doing so she improved her SP pb to 7.68 and 800 pb to 2.56.42 making a total of 2282.  In the boys Harry McQueen and Sam Bailey finished a 6th 12th respectively in their first championship multli event.  Harry produced a 1792 score, whilst Sam finished with 1735.  Essex


April 30th
A good start to our SWL campaign with a runner up finish against a strong Herts team.  Match highlights go to Rebecca Quinlan and Lauren Longhurst, who broke club records with personal bests.  Becky trimmed over 1.5 secs off her 300mh time to a new pb of 49.1.  Lauren improved her TJ best to 10.64 and increased the club record by 20cms.  In the 800m Chelmsford completed a age group double with U15 international Laura Condron having a tough battle prior to clinching victory in 2.19.3, Gemma Phillips provided an excellent B string victory in 2.29.6.  Not to be out done the seniors pair of Emma Haley and Claire Hayes also won both strings with good performances. April 24th
Despite the opposition including a strong Havering team and a good West Suffolk squad we secured an early session victory in this competitive league.  Four of the 6 age groups had clear wins which is very encouraging for the season ahead.  Holly Manning began her season with a club record in the 80mh in 11.9 and U15 Elise walker picked up a great double in the 100/200 EYAL


April 17th
An away trip to local club Colchester saw our track season begin with a good victory in the Anglian League. Age group victories to the U13G, senior ladies, U13B and senior men, with at least a top 3 finish to the rest. Mark Hunt continues his fine form with a 400/800 double in the U15b also Liam Sneath got his season underway with a TJ victory in 10.88. Senior Decathlete Alex Gibson showed some early season strength winning 5 events and throwing well, almost equaling his pb in the shot with a 13.62 putt. A strong under 13 girls team allowed few points to slip away Rachel Gibbs, Georgia Crossland, Ellie Besford and Sophie Gigg deserve special mention. A club record went to Yvonne Mtangadura in the TJ with her leap of 10.43. Results


April 10th
Club Athletes were active this weekend at 2 track opens.  Mark Hunt increased his Gold medal tally with an outdoor pb at the Hercules 
Wimbledon open in a time of 2.08.4.  Many others visited Havering for their 2nd open of the season.  Michael Read in the Pole vault 
claimed an U17 club record with his 3.10 vault, Tash Christian now a JM ran a 11.1/22.3 for the 100m/200m, whilst fellow sprinter Sam Boxall u17M ran 11.7/23.8 for the same pair. In the U13boys Philip Whittaker opened his season with 14.5/30.5/4.05 in the 100/200/LJ.  

In the women Louise Wood ran a 12.6/15.5 in the 100/100mh.  Sarah Brown JW completed a double in the 100m/200m in 12.9/26.8, so 
her season has got off to a good start. Becky Quinlan improved her club record in the U17W 300mh with a new time of 50.3, Annie Dunn 
ran a good race to win the U15G 800m in 2.32.9. Alex Lusty and Hannah Besford had a tussle over first and second with Alex taking the 
honours with a 4.92 leap.  Up and coming hurdler Ellie Besford completed a double with victories in the 70mh and long jump in 12.8/4.12

The happy bunch of award winners at this years ceremony.  There were some notable achievements recongised by the club this year. A full list of winners here.  Best performance male went to Matt Tong, best performance female was awarded to Rebecca French and best perf cup went to Emma Haley.

Many achieved top 10 placing's in the UK rankings and have been supported by Chelmsford Borough Council with financial assistance with their training.  These people included Lewis Taylor, Matt Tong, Rebecca French and Hannah Besford.


April 2nd
Making her International debut, Junior Laura Condron claimed 3rd place and a bronze to help her England team won the team gold at this years ESAA SIAB match at Northop in Wales.  Laura ran her leg in 13.00, just 2 seconds behind 2nd and 6 seconds behind first, it must have been an exciting final 100m.

 


March 26th
An excellent day for all those visiting Melbourne Park for our Easter Saturday Spring Medal Open.  Many thanks to all those who entered and all those who helped to make the day successful and there were 300+ entries.  Well done to Lewis Taylor who broke the club record with a massive 15.39 shot throw in the U15 boys.. Results

 


March 25th

March 13th
It was a bronze team medal for the Chelmsford men's team at this years road relay champs at Melbourne.  The team of Dave Tullett (19.30), 
James Williams (18.56), R Prout (19.40) and Garon Heslop (20.00).  Basildon were the strong winners with a record leg run by Rob Denmark in 17.48.

 


March 12th
Laura Condron made huge contribution to the Essex English Schools team by taking Bronze in Norwich at the Championships.  Under 15 Laura has had many notable successes in Essex League and South of England Champs.  This now earns Laura a well deserved England call up.  Fellow Chelmsford Athlete Frances Cliffe ran well to finish 22nd in the Senior event.  Results

 


Feb 25th/26th
Mark Hunt made himself at home in the two days of the AAA indoor champs at Birmingham.  Mark won Bronze on Saturday in the 800m after leading from the gun to the last corner, he was eventually beaten by the welsh runner who managed to break the welsh record over this distance, Mark's time was 2' 07.60 seconds (exactly the same time as the silver medal winner.) This is a PB by nearly 3 seconds. On Sunday he went one better and won Silver in the 400m, leading from gun to last corner again, and was then only passed by last years 3A's outdoor champion, Marks time was 53.74 seconds, another PB by nearly 2 seconds and is a new Chelmsford AC record.  Under 15/7 Results

 


Feb 19th
The Essex indoor champs had a great day 1 for Chelmsford athletes.  Fantastic performances by the Besford sisters. Hannah taking Gold in the U15 long jump in an indoor pb of 4.87,  whilst young Ellie won the hurdles in a pb of 10.5. Alex Lusty took 2nd place in the U15 lj.

 


Jan 17th/18th
The top team from Chelmsford had a successful and enjoyable day at the multi's.  Rebecca French won the U17 , Senior man Alex Gibson 
took silver with a club record of 3475. Matt Tong maintained his invincible form taking Gold with a club record of 3214points. Senior lady 
Siobham Dennehy won bronze with 3082 and under 15 Hannah Besford took another bronze in 2627. Results

 


Jan 10th/11th
Lewis Taylor struck silver with a 13.65 shot throw in the u15's, Hannah Besford begun her medal hunt in 2005 taking a long jump silver 
with 467 in the u15's, Lyndsey North narrowly missed a semi final place by 1/100 of a sec in the u17's 60m. Lauren Longhurst made a double medal haul with a silver in the long and a bronze in the triple in the u20's. Result set
