I was rather ambivalent about having a personal page on our website, - should I bare my soul to the World, or fill it with banalities? In all probabiliy I will do both. To put me in context, you can see the family history section. Family, and a sense of place have always been important to me. At this point in time I have reached that Mid-Life Crisis stage. Nearing 50, and I still don't seem to have acheived very much.
For most of my life I have lived at Cherry Gardens, and spent my time scratching a living from the soil, six or seven days a week. I guess in a way it is quite an achievement to still be happily married, have two fine children, and to have survived in the farming business through the past few years. The only real snag is that I have been so busy making a living that I haven't had enough time to enjoy life. This may be about to change as and I am now "semi-retired." I now have a part-time job at RAMSAK where I work 3 days a week fighting with the computers and upsetting the customers, and I have become a "part-time" farmer, only working two or three days a week on the farm, so this sometimes gives me two whole days off for my leisure activities.
