Rolling Stock

My baseboard is 8 feet by 5 feet 3 inches. It has a double main line with 2 storage sidings and an elevated branch line. The sidings are hidden under the hill side beneath the branch line station (maybe a bad idea but i'll see in the future). I acquired a 8 feet by 4 feet fibre board from a friend .It had been in his daughters bedroom as a pin board and has a lot of graffiti on it, but it will be covered by grass or painted. I had to compromise in the spare bedroom and had to hang the layout on the wall. (my original in the 60's was also on the wall). I had calculated that 8 by 5 would be good and made a frame with 20 mm by 45 mm timbers and screwed and glued the board and its 1 foot Sundela extension to it. The side supports are of 300 mm by 20 mm MDF and the main board is detachable with slotted hinges.

When i started to plan out the track it became apparent that i could not get the curves in (I did not want to use less than second radius) so a further 3 inches was added. I wanted to include all aspects of a railway from Viaducts to Cuttings to Bridges and Tunnels from Goods yard to Station and all associated infrastructure and I wanted it to work, from Street lights to Level crossing gates. I also intend to add a little of my personal life to the model with models of my cars to me flying a model aeroplane.

Construction is to start again very soon a my Daughter has moved out...AGAIN!! So i have got my railway room back....
