Studio

The studio is located in a conversion of part of a barn - the old hay loft.

The lighting is all suspended from an IFF track system and comprises a Bowens Gold mono key light with a translucent umberella attached, and my own design umberella reflector, together with a Bowens Silver fill light and a Bowens Wafer soft box.

The background lights are two Bowens Esprit 500's with barn doors and large gobos attached to prevent stray light from reaching the subject.

I use a Photax 1 metre square silver/white reflector at low level or as a fill "light" to the side.

The hair/kicker light is a Bowens 1000 with a snoot or fresnel spot attached (allowing for adjustment of the light pool)

The cameras are a Kodak DCS Pro SLR/n and a Fuji S2 Pro with 28-105 FD lens, mounted on a Manfrotto head, allowing adjustment of landscape or portrait without removal of the camera, although I mostly use the cameras hand held.

A Bronica ETRSi (now rarely used) is shown mounted on a home design sectional tube fixed to the wheeled Manfrotto dolly. This allows for three heights of low level shots when working at floor level. It also saves floor space by not having to spread the tripod legs to achieve low level shots and allows the tripod to fit back on the dolly without re adjustment.

Changing area

As you can see, the changing area is a curtained off area of the studio, with full length and make up mirrors, stereo, wash basin and tea and coffee making facilities.

The painting on the rear wall is an Aboriginal work from The Kimberley, in Western Australia, depicting both Bradshaw and Wandjina figures.
