JAMES BURNE WORSON A shoemaker who lived in Leamington, England. On September 3, 1873, he made a sizeable bet that he could run to Coventry and back, a distance of more than 40 miles. He set out at once. The man with whom he made the bet and two others followed him by cart. Worson did well at first, for he was indeed a man of great endurance. The three men in the cart kept a short distance away. Suddenly, not a dozen yards from the cart, Worson seemed to stumble, pitched headlong forward, uttered a loud cry and vanished! He did not even fall to the earth, but simply vanished before touching it. No trace of him was ever discovered. Source: The UnXplained edited by Damon Wilson
