What is Freesat?

Freesat is a new service from the BBC and ITV and is similar to Freeview but has the advantage of ease of reception  via satellite dish, space for more channels than is possible with Freeview and has the capacity to transmit high definition programs and high quality sound.

What do I need for Freesat?

Most people are familiar with the requirements to receive Sky satellite and for Freesat the set-up is identical, but with Freesat there is no monthly subscription, i.e all channels are free. A one off payment is required for the equipment and/or installation.

Can I use my existing Sky dish for Freesat?

Yes. If you have an existing Sky receiver it is possible to directly replace the Sky digital receiver with a new Freesat receiver.

Why would I need Freesat?

If you are looking for High Definition (HD) programs and don't want to pay for them then this is the only way to get them. You may, like thousands of others, own an HD ready television and not really taking advantage of the crystal clear, ultra sharp image performance that the set is capable of. Up to five times more picture detail gives you deeper, richer, more vivid colours and amazing sound. The Freeview signal, although good is of relatively poor quality when compared to Freesat. In fact, if you don't have Sky HD then you must get Freesat, otherwise the expense of your new super high quality HD television is totally wasted.
