 ICQ Lite is only 1.9 Mb, can be installed quickly, easily & uses minimal resources! - Download a new, no-frills, slim version of ICQ in less time than ever. Install ICQ Lite quickly and easily. It's also easy on your computer's resources.

Switch between ICQ Lite and ICQ Pro! - ICQ Lite can work WITH the full-featured ICQ Pro: You can alternate between the two versions.

By clicking Main -> Switch to ICQ full version in ICQ Lite, ICQ Lite will shut down, and the full-featured version of ICQ will automatically start in Advanced mode.

Switch skins & colors! - Now you can alternate between a choice of different skins included with ICQ Lite. Also, change the ICQ Lite colors!

Advanced Security Options! - ICQ Lite now allows you to choose whether you are in a Public or Private environment, as well as allowing you to specify if you're a Guest on someone else's computer. Public mode is for ICQ on computers that are used by many people, for example, in Internet cafes. Private mode is for ICQ on computers that are typically used by only a few users. Send SMS directly to others from the Contact List window! - The ICQ Lite message window now includes a link to send SMS messages directly to others from the Contact List window.

The ICQ Lite message window now includes a link to send SMS messages directly to others from the Contact List window.

Improved History! - ICQ Lite now has enhanced History features.

Activate Auto Save Messages to save chat histories! - ICQ Lite allows you to select whether or not to save the chat histories with your contacts. There are two ways to select the Auto Save Messages history option: click Main -> Preferences & Security -> Saving Options and select the Save History checkbox.

Alternately, to save history for a particular user only, go to a message window and click the History icon. From the Message History window, choose the Save history for this user to record your conversation history for this individual user.

Search Google directly from the Contact List window! - The ICQ Lite window now includes a Google search, which allows you to search the Web directly, without having to open your Web browser.

Use the Typing Indicator to see when a contact is typing you a message! - When you send a message to another ICQ Lite user, the text User is typing... will appear periodically at the bottom of your message window to indicate the user is replying (Note: "User" will be replaced with your friend's nickname).


Send SMS messages to non-ICQ users! - To send SMS messages to non-ICQ users, click Main -> Add / Invite Users -> SMS (Non ICQ Contact). Enter the user's contact name and cell phone number into the Non ICQ Contact window and click OK.

  • With ICQ Pro 2003a, you can move instantly from the Pro to Lite versions just by clicking Switch to ICQ Lite from the Main menu.

New Users: Choose to save your History -

  • If you're a first-time ICQ user, or have installed ICQ on a computer for the first time, ICQ will not save your history by default.
    Note: If you're upgrading from an existing version of ICQ on the same computer, ICQ will keep your existing History settings.
  • To save your message history, click Main -> Preferences -> Alerts and Notifications -> Save Message History.

Search Google from the ICQ Window -

  • With the new Search Google feature, you can easily and quickly use the most Internet's most popular search engine, right from your ICQ window.
  • To search, just enter your search keyword, and click GO!

Firewall Detection: Use ICQ at Work -

  • ICQ now automatically detects your Internet Explorer proxy settings if you use the automatic configuration script.

People Search: By Keyword or Free Text! -

Allow users to perform almost a literal search (for example: male 18 Russia Jazz Music entered in the Keyword search field will automatically return results for Females age 18-22 from Sweden who like Jazz Music). The Keyword search field will also support a limited free text search, with questions like: How can I find females from Sweden? Keyword search has been added to the Add/Invite Users dialog.

Now there are 2 easy ways to find friends and add them to your ICQ:
Add will open the Add/Invite Users dialog, where you can search to see if your friends are on ICQ, add them to your ICQ & invite more friends to join you.
Find Users will open a detailed ICQ users directory search dialog, where you can search for new pals, lost family and old friends by interests, background, gender, age, location, language and more.
