Fin-S Bridge Scoring System

Tournament Directors & Event Organisers

So, you are a Tournament Director or an event Organiser, are you ? Well, in addition to the things that Fin-S provides for the Club Scorer, it can also offer:

  • The ability to store Travellers when they are half-complete, so that events using Carbon Travellers can be rapidly scored at the end; it even lets you score the part-travellers if you like, to get a "half-time" score;
  • Random Generation of Hands for use at simultaneous events - you can download the hands you generate to a "Duplimate" hand dealer, and Fin-S even prints statistics about types of hands and distributions;

  • Complex event scoring, such as Multiple Teams-of-4 (IMP or VP scoring), Swiss Pairs, Swiss Teams and Simultaneous Pairs events (there is even a "special" for a combined Golf and Bridge event); for Swiss events, it supports sub-fields, does automatic assignment and Conflict resolution, and offers you the option to run Pairs events "a round behind";
  • Multiple section scoring; even multi-section multi-session scoring;
  • Reconciliation sheets for each pair if desired, plus printouts of Board Frequencies (for Simultaneous Pairs, too);
  • Split Scores, using the Neuberg formula;
  • Printing E.B.U. numbers with the results for ease of transmission to the E.B.U., or else electronic storage of results in the approved format;
  • Full width Travellers, if you want to record the exact details of Contract, Lead, etc. (it even checks the score you entered against the contract, or fills it in for you if you can't be bothered!)
  • Dumps result pages to HTML for display on web sites.

You want to know how powerful this all is ? Fin-S can use a data exchange format called USEBIO XML. For Simultaneous Pairs events, USEBIO can be used to export a multitude of session results from Clubs into a single module at the Organisers' premises in a matter of seconds. This means that if all the Clubs scored using Fin-S and downloaded results via E-Mail, then the results of a Simultaneous Pairs event could be back with the Clubs within an hour of the last result reaching the Organisers, and all they need is one administrator sat at a PC with an E-Mail address. This is similar to what the BGB do with their Simultaneous Pair events (except they use their own data format rather than USEBIO). To make this process easier, Fin-S can also absorb data files from the BGB program (SIMS), Stephen Brown's program (SCBridge), the EBU program (CASS), Stephen Bligh’s program (ScoreBridge) and Tony Howarth's program, even though NONE of these programs support USEBIO!

This only scratches the surface of what Fin-S can do.
