now been determined and a much expanded tree has been prepared and is published
as a 'A Marsh Family of Capel le Ferne.' I felt that it would be best to
leave this page as is, but include all persons shown here in the expanded

Lyminge
As with other villages that have been covered, there were a number
of Marsh families that spent some time in Lyminge before moving on (see
Marsh Family of Elham). At this time, I know of no biological connection
between my Marsh line and the family covered here, but since this family
only starts with Richard born about 1775 (a guess) there could be a connection
further back in time. What I do know is that I share relatives with many
of the people in this line because of marriage. For example; Jean Catherine
Farrier (RIN 73) is related to me as a third cousin; Charles Care (RIN
76) is related to me as a 1st cousin 3 generations removed. There are other
relationships which I will not go into at this time. I was prompted to
post this chart because of an enquiry from a fellow Canadian living in
Saskatchewan, Canada who is a descendant of Richard Marsh and, therefore,
shares some relatives with me.

Richard Marsh
Richard Marsh was a Cordwainer (Shoemaker). Trying to trace Richard's origins
would not be an easy task because there were so many Richards in adjacent
villages along the coast. One might take a look at other Richard Marsh's
who were cordwainers. I am reproducing below the marriage register entry
for Richard and his wife Sarah Prebble.

I think it only fair to advise you that the Prebble Web site consists of a series
of descendancy charts put together by Lance from information procured from
various sources, including this page. Lance has not proven the information he has posted.
Therefore, if you plan on using any of the information, I recommend, as always, that
you check original sources. To start you off, I am reproducing below an image of
the burial record of Robert Prebble, the hierarchal head of Lance's charts. Robert
was of Wootton, Kent and the burial record can be found in the Wootton parish register.
To follow the family you will have to check the registers of surrounding parishes,
such as Denton (an important one) Barham, Elham, etc. Good luck!
If you wish to short-cut your research, do a search for Robert Preble on the LDS
Web site at: http://www.familysearch.org
. A very reliable pedigree leading to Robert is that submitted by LaRue
Olsen, it can be found on the LDS Church Pedigree Resource File CD#20 - this is
another source of some of Lance's information.

Jane, a descendant of Richard, Married Charles William Fisher whose family
immigrated to Canada at the turn of the century.
