Access Statement for Galmpton Touring Park

Self-Catering Accommodation

 

Introduction

Situated on the edge of a village at the boarder of Torbay and the South Hams we offer 4 self-catering units: 2 Cottages and 2 Studio apartments. Our accommodation provides a base for couples or families to relax and explore the many attraction of the surrounding area. The Cottages and Studios are situated near the entrance to our family run Touring Park which caters for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.

 

Pre-Arrival

•  Bookings can be made by telephone (9 a.m. – 7 p.m.) and email. Fax by arrangement.

•  Large print versions of letters and booking confirmations are available.

•  Our Reception can help you with any queries you have.

•  The park is situated on the brow of a hill approximately ½ a mile from the village which has a well stocked store/post office, butcher and pub serving food.

•  The nearest bus route is approximately ¾ of a mile away.

 

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

•  We are situated ¾ mile from the main road.

•  Simple directions are given on our website & brochure. N.B. Satellite Navigation systems have been known to give inappropriate directions.

•  There is limited car parking in the arrival area.

•  Once registered at Reception guests are shown to their accommodation.

 

Main Entrance & Reception

•  Situated at the entrance to the park.

•  Access to the Reception and the shop is down a flight of 7 clearly marked steps with a handrail.

•  Please sound your horn outside Reception if you would like assistance and we will come to you – we can book you in from your vehicle.

•  Our Cottages and Studios are situated at the entrance to the park, close to reception, our shop and Tourist Information centre.

•  Between Easter and the end of September Owners or Wardens are on the park 24hrs a day for emergencies.

 

Shop

•  Situated in Reception, see above.

•  Open between Easter and the end of September.

•  We stock a fair range of goods, including local eggs, Devon clotted cream and local ice-creams. Newspapers, fresh bread/croissants can be ordered.

 

Tourist Information

•  A well stocked Tourist Information centre is situated in the same building at the Studios near the entrance to the park.

•  There are three steps down from entrance road.

•  Small well stocked room.

•  We are on hand to offer advice on the local area.

•  We offer discount vouchers to several local attractions.

 

Laundry

•  A front loading washing machine and tumble dryer are situated in the Tourist Information Centre for the exclusive use of visitors to our Cottages and Studios. A small charge is made for this service.

•  An iron and ironing board are available on request.

 

Public telephone

•  Outside tourist information.

•  Traditional style red telephone box.

•  Coin operated.

•  List of emergency numbers displayed.

 

Mobile Telephones.

•  Generally good reception.

 

Television Reception

•  Currently good, masts visible in distance from site.

•  Digital switch over April 2009.

•  Satellite reception good except for a very few pitches.

 

Outdoor Facilities

•  An unsupervised play area with swings, slide and climbing equipment is provided for children on the Touring Park .

 

The Cottages

 

•  The Cottages are located near the entrance to the park.

•  Duvets, pillows and bed linen are provided.

•  Visitors need to bring their own towels.

 

Each Cottage contains a Living Area

 

•  Living Area

•  Cottage 1: Three-seater sofa & 1 chair.

•  Cottage 2: Two –seater sofa and 2 chairs.

•  TV and DVD player.

•  Carpet

 

•  Kitchen Area

•  Fully equipped with oven, grill, 4 x hob, microwave, kettle and fridge with ice box.

•  Standard height sink and draining board.

•  Two floor cupboards and two wall cupboards.

•  All cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment is provided.

•  Lino.

 

•  Dining Area

•  Table and 4 chairs.

•  Carpet

•  Highchair available if requested.

•  Heating throughout the cottage is provided by oil filled or electric heaters that can be switched on as required.

 

Recycling and Rubbish Bins

•  There is a dustbin by each of the Cottages.

•  Recycling points are located at several dedicated areas around the Touring Park . These can be reached by car if necessary.

 

 

Cottage 1

 

•  Comprises a living/ kitchen/ dining area, bedroom and a bathroom.

•  Situated on one level.

 

Entrance

•  Parking for one car is available outside the cottage.

•  There is one small clearly marked step up from the road and a small step into the front door.

•  There is a light outside the front door.

•  Entrance hall with facilities to hang coats.

•  To the side of the cottage is a patio area with table and chairs.

•  There is a dustbin in the patio area.

 

Living area

•  As described above

 

Bedroom

•  Contains double bed and a single bed.

•  Wardrobe, bedside cabinets.

•  Carpet.

•  Cot available if requested.

 

Bathroom

•  Walk in shower unit (small step into shower tray).

•  Standard WC.

•  Standard height basin.

•  Electric towel rail.

•  Carpet

 

Cottage 2

 

The Cottage

•  Comprises a living/ kitchen/ dining area with mezzanine bedroom over, bedroom with bunk beds and a bathroom.

•  Situated on two levels.

 

Entrance

•  Parking for one car is available near the tourist information centre a short distance from the cottage.

•  Access is down a flight of 7 steps with a handrail.

•  The steps are clearly marked and signed .

•  There is a light outside the front door.

•  There is a small step into the front door.

•  There is a dustbin outside near the front door.

 

Living Area

•  As described above.

 

Bedroom 1

•  Bunk Beds.

•  Chest of Drawers.

•  Carpet.

 

Bedroom 2

•  Above living area on a mezzanine level accessed by twelve stairs.

•  Double bed.

•  Wardrobe, Chest of drawers.

•  Cot available if requested.

 

Bathroom

•  Bath with electric shower over.

•  WC.

•  Standard height basin.

•  Electric towel rail.

•  Carpet

 

The Studios

 

•  The Studios are located near the entrance to the park.

•  Duvets, pillows and bed linen are provided.

•  Visitors need to bring their own towels.

•  Studio A is more disabled friendly with a slope to access the front door and a wet room bathroom.

 

Each Studio

•  Is comprised of one room with a living/ kitchen/sleeping area and a bathroom.

•  Situated on one level.

•  Heating is provided by oil filled or electric heaters that can be switched on as required.

•  Parking for one car is available nearby.

•  The interconnecting door between Studio A and Studio B can be unlocked if requested when both Studios are booked together.

 

Entrance

•  There is a light outside the front door.

•  Studio A: There is a short slope or two steps up to the front door.

•  Studio B: There are two steps up to the front door.

 

Living Space

•  Two easy chairs.

•  TV.

•  Studio A: Table and 2 benches.

•  Studio B: Table and 2 chairs.

•  Carpet

 

Kitchen Space

•  4 x hob, combination microwave, kettle and fridge with ice box.

•  Standard height sink and draining board.

•  Three floor cupboards, three drawers and four wall cupboards.

•  All cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment is provided.

•  Lino.

 

Bedroom Space

•  Double bed and bedside cabinets.

•  Carpet.

 

Bathroom – Studio A

•  Wet room with shower (no step in).

•  Standard WC.

•  Standard height basin.

•  Electric towel rail.

•  Lino.

 

Bathroom – Studio B

•  Bath with electric shower over.

•  Standard WC.

•  Standard height basin.

•  Electric towel rail.

•  Lino.

•  Train Station = Paignton (next to Paignton bus station).

•  Bus Station = Paignton or Brixham

•  Bus Stop = ¾ mile away on main road “ Churston Bridge ” (see above).

12 Brixham or Paignton/Torquay/Newton Abbot every 15 mins.

120 Kingswear for Dartmouth or Paignton every hour (not Sunday)
