Psalm 138(139)

Ave Maria

Hail Mary! Daughter of God the Father

Hail Mary! Mother of God the Son.

Hail Mary! Spouse of God the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary! Temple of the Most Blessed Trinity.

Hail Mary! Celestial Rose of the ineffable love of God.

Hail Mary! Virgin most humble, of whom the King of Heaven willed to be born and with your milk to be nourished.

Hail Mary! Virgin of Virgins.

Hail Mary! Queen of martyrs, whose soul a sword transfixed.

Hail Mary! Lady most Blessed! Unto whom all power in Heaven and earth is given.

Hail Mary! My Queen and my Mother! My Life, my sweetness, and my Hope.

Hail Mary! Mother most Amiable.

Hail Mary! Mother most Admirable.

Hail Mary, Mother of Divine Love.

Hail Mary Immaculate: Conceived without sin!

Hail Mary, Full of Grace! The Lord is with you! Blessed are you among women! And blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus!

Blessed be your Spouse, St Joseph.

Blessed be your Father, St Joachim.

Blessed be your Mother, St Anne.

Blessed be your Guardian, St John.

Blessed be your holy Angel, St Gabriel.

Blessed be God the Father, who chose you.

Blessed be the Holy Spirit, who espoused you.

O Glorious Virgin Mary, may all people love and praise you.

Holy Mary, Mother of God! Pray for us and bless us, now at death, in the name of Jesus your Divine Son.

(This was written by St John Eudes. A copy was found in a book belonging to St Margaret Mary after her death)

Chaplet of Divine Mercy

How to Recite the Chaplet of Divine Mercy

The Lord said to Sister Faustina: You will recite (this chaplet) on the beads of the rosary in the following manner:

First of all you will say one OUR FATHER and HAIL MARY and the I BELIEVE IN GOD.

Then on the OUR FATHER BEADS you will say the following words:

'Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.'

Then on the HAIL MARY beads you will say the following words:

'For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.'

In conclusion three times you will recite these words:

'Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.'

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth,

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,

Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,

Born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended into hell. On the third day, he rose again and ascended into Heaven.

He is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints,

The forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

The Three O'Clock Prayer

You expired, Lord Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world.

0 Fount of Life, unfathomable divine Mercy, envelope the whole world and empty yourself out upon us.

O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in you.

Growing Old

Of the many experiences of life through which God speaks to us, the experience of ageing is common to many of us.  This is reflected in the following wonderful prayer by Teilhard de Chardin:

"When the signs of age begin to mark my body (and still more, when they touch my mind); when the ill that is to diminish me or carry me off strikes from without or is born within me; when the painful moment comes in which I suddenly awaken to the fact that I am growing old; and above all, at that last moment when I feel I am losing hold of myself and am absolutely passive within the hands of the great unknown forces that have formed me; in all those dark moments, O God, grant that I may understand it is You (provided that my faith is strong enough) who are painfully parting the fibres of my being, in order to penetrate to the very marrow of my substance and bear me away within Yourself..."

Psalm 99

Cry out with joy to the Lord, all the earth.

Serve the Lord with gladness

Come before Him singing for joy.

Know that He, the Lord, is God.

He made us we belong to Him,

we are his people, the sheep of his flock.

Indeed, how good is the Lord,

eternal his merciful love.

He is faithful from age to age.

from Psalm 138 (139)

O Lord, you search me and you know me

You know my resting and my rising,

you discern my purpose from afar

you mark when I walk or lie down,

all my ways lie open before you.

For it was you who created my being,

knit me together in my mother's womb.

I thank you for the wonder of my being,

For the wonders of all your creation.

O search me God, and know my heart.

O test me and know my thoughts.

See that I follow not the wrong path,

and lead me in the path of eternal life.
