Janet Halligan : Potter

Janet who is based near Nantwich , Cheshire has been making pieces since 1970 when she graduated from the Stourbridge College of Art. She lived and worked on the South Coast until 1984 when she set up her workshop near Natwich. Her current work stems from creations begun in the late 1980’s. These were a series of vessels based on clothing and clothed torsos, inspired by fashion photographs in "Vogue" magazine.

She now makes ‘trompe l’oeil’ work - that is everyday objects like bags, shoes and cardboard boxes, constructed from slabs of stoneware clay, glazed and lustred to look realistic. She also makes a range of vessels derived from this sculptural work featuring different kinds of fastenings. Recently she has also started to make sculptural pots 7 teapots derived from machine and natural forms.

We usually have at least ten pieces by Janet in stock for personal shoppers
