Rwanda 2001

On July 26th 2001 i went to Rwanda with my vicar and Steve and Steven from our church to do a couple of weeks work for some Christians there.

Trevor the vicar spent his time in the area around Kigeme training local pastors in bible study and leadership skills.

Steve and Steven worked in the Kigeme diocese on the plumbing and electrics in the hospital and the computers in the church office.

i spent a few days helping with the computers in Kigeme and then travelled back to Kigali (the capital) to work with Emmanuel Kayijuka in the Scriptuer Union office trying to improve their computer systems.

There i met many english Christian students doing various types of work there.

There was a group of seven students from Brunel University who were helping organise an IFES conference in Butare (the only university in Rwanda)

Also there was a team of a dozen law students who were operating through Tear Fund, travelling round looking into the legal issues surrounding the genocide and other difficult issues in the surrounding countries.

i know i'm severely mis-representing what everyone was doing there but i'm sure the people concerned will tell me better and more accurate things to write here once they've read this!
