National Cycle Plan?
In June the Prime Minister
announced that the Department for Transport would produce a National
Cycle Plan to start a cycling revolution in England
The Plan represents an
opportunity substantially to increase the use of cycling, and should set out
what the aim for cycling should be, how much investment it requires, and what
needs to change in order to achieve that increase...
Visit the CTC site for more
info and to complete the survey www.ctc.org.uk/nationalcycleplan
This
years bike week event will be in support of the Green Travel Plan Anniversary.
The main item for cyclists will the the APBUG stand and the new Ipswich Charity
"The Green Bike Project" run by Mencap, that will rebuild and sell on
old bikes. Also BRING in those old bikes and spares you have had lying in the
garage and hand them to "The Green Bike Project " so they can become
working bikes once more.
If
for any reason you find you don't have a set of working lights to get you home
the BUG has arranged with security to keep a spare set in the gatehouse. They
use a strong rubber tie to secure so are easy and quick to fit. You will just
need to leave you details and sign for them.
Don't forget there is a workshop on site where you can maintain your bike out
of the elements and in the warm. The basic tools and pump in the workshop are
available for use by all. The two full bike tool kits can be used by anyone who
has ATLAS membership (they paid for them).
The
BUG has joined as a affilliate of the CTC the UK's national cycling
association. More info on CTC benefits.
Pedal Power provided free bike safety checks and minor
repairs. Regular cyclists from the BUG will be shared their experience about
clothing, lights etc that help make cycling a healthy and practical way to get
to work throughout the winter.

Bikeability is
the Cycling Proficiency Test for the 21st century, designed to give the next
generation the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today's roads.
There are three Bikeability levels and children will be encouraged and inspired
to achieve all three levels, recognising that there is always more to learn and
to enjoy on a bike.
If you've had bikeability training please tell us about it.
The following bikes have been in the cycle park at the
end of the Gym for at least a month:

The CTC has launched two new services to improve conditions
for cyclists:
Fillthathole.org.uk enables you
to report potholes on line. They report it to the right council. If they don't
fix it in a reasonable time and someone else is injured the site provides
evidence that the authority were aware of the fault.
Clearthattrail.org.uk provides
a similar service for blocked rights of way.
BUG
members can use the cycle workshop. It is equipped with a pump, workstand and
some basic tools. More tools are kept in a locked tool box. Contact us for access.
.
To report an abandoned bike please contact the BUG
A dated notice placed on the bike by BUG.

BUG mail list and to the Monteray Security Assignment

after 3 Months then it is donated to TEECH.
