|
| 4/10/03 | A small team
competed at the recent Brentwood Open and had a very successful day. Top marks went to
Zoe-anne Cross who won the U15 Grade 2 group by 3 clear marks. In the same group Louise
Pennell and Bethany Aspinall came 2nd and 3rd to complete a clean sweep for Hi Tension. Mark Pennell won the U13 Grade 2 age group and Crystelle was second in the O18 Group. Katherine Hill unfortunatly made an error on her set routine and withdrew from the competition. A big Well Done to you all, the club and it's coaches are very proud of you. |
| 6/7/03 | Matthew ended up
13th placed out of 20 in the Grade 1 National Finals at the weekend. This ended an
unfortunate run of bad luck over the past couple of years with two completed routines.
Matthew also came 3rd at the recent Southend qualifier. At the recent Grade 2 qualifier Beth, Crystelle, Mark and Louise all travelled the huge distance to Perth on Scotland. Mark and Louise had the best day in that Mark won the event! and qualified for Grade 1. Louise also did well coming 7th and qualifying for the Grade 2 National Finals. Crystelle was an agonising 0.1 from that elusive final and Beth also did well albeit with a bad toe. So Mark and Louise join Zoe-ann Cross in the Grade 2 finals in November. Well Done to you all. |
| 17/05/03 | It just goes to
show how little time I have had to update this site as I jot a few words together 1 year
after the last entry!!. Too much has happened to ever catch up totally but here are the highlights / lowlights. Mark and Zoe-ann both qualified for Grade 2 National finals. Zoe-ann coming 2nd at a Grade 2 event. Beth Louise and Zoe-ann winning the team event. Crystelle, Beth and Louise all score retaining Grade 2 scores. Matt qualifies for Grade 1 National Finals. Sue Waller-Tyne passes Senior Club Coach, Amanda, Dave and Crystelle complete 1/2 Out top up module. Michelle Woods decides to give up coaching at the club due to her personal circumstances. Several Grade up at the various grading events. See Results section for all details. Excellent results in fact at Ipswich Open and the gradings this past year. Colchester Open 2002 held in Charter Hall , great success. Club competition saw Mark Pennell and Charlotte Peck take the club title and novice title respectively. |
| 20/5/02 | Matt and Zoe-ann went
to the Manchester grade 1 event at the weekend. Zoe-ann did really well increasing her
score by whole 1.1 since the last competition. Her total score of 52.4 is only 1.1 short
of the 53.5 needed to stay up in Grade 1. (19th Place out of 31 competitors). Matt entered MENS for the first time and got off to a great start with a 25.3 set score. The voluntary was Matts biggest ever 11.1 which he managed to hold it together at 11.0 (a new club record). Unfortunately the form score on that voluntary was not high enough on this occasion and his total score of 58.7 was just 0.3 short of the 59.0 needed for MENS National finals (20th place out of 29 competitors) Matt , Zoe and Dave have a last chance at the Littledown centre in Bournemouth 2nd of July. Good Luck from all at the club!. |
| 1/5/02 | Dave, Louise and Zoe-ann all went to Cardiff weekend 20/4/02 for the Grade 1 competition.Dave came out on top this time with a 3rd Place trophy and his ticket to the national Finals in Birmingham. Well Done Dave. Louise came very close to staying in Grade 1 with a 53.7 total (needed 54.0). Zoe-ann put in a good first Grade 1 performance completing both routines. |
| 18/3/02 | The Ipswich Open 2002 saw most of the club competing. A host of top three places came to club members....full results of results page. |
| 18/3/02 | The grade 1 season
got off to a good start at Alton, Hampshire. Matt Aspinall scored a total of 61.7 which
put him into the National Finals in July. the 24.5 score on the set was enough to also
qualify him for the MENS competition. He will need to score 59 in MENS to qualify for the
MENS national final. Dave completed his routines but was unable to score enough on the set routine on this occasion. Louise also competed her routines but was unable to score enough to stay up on this occasion. Dave also competed at Stourbridge in the second competition, but was unable to complete his set. The intention is that all Grade 1 competitors will be competing at Cardiff on the 20th April, (includes Zoe0-ann who will compete in her first Grade 1). |
| 11/2/02 | Our intrepid Grade 2 performers
took a trip to Woking for the first competition of the season. Under a very tough judging
regime our performers did very well. Crystelle scored enough to stay up for another year. Zoe-ann scored 0.3 off the Grade 1 qualifier and also qualified for Grade 2 national finals and came 6th on the day. Unfortunately Natalie was unable to compete the set or voluntary routine on this occasion. The next competition will be in Southend 30th June, at which the club hopes those who have qualified for G2 may be able to compete. |
| 28/01/02 | The club had three pupils in the
Zonal schools round held in Stourbridge at the weekend. Lauren Abrey - no news as
she was due to be on at 9am. Zoe-ann Cross scored well at 54.5 and came 9th out of
12. (Top place was more than 60 points!!) Matt Aspinall - scored pretty well in the set, despite some poor judging (8.3 to 9.1 gap) and then middle 8's for the voluntary but this was not good enough to take him through to the next round. Well done to all of you for getting this far....it is a tough old game and just to be there is a big achievement. |
| 13/01/02 | The club competition proved to be a real battle betwen the top club perfomers. In the end Louise Norton pulled off two good routines and was the outright winner. Last years champion Zoe-ann Cross came second with slight travel letting her routine down and third was Emily Irwin, having crashed in warm up got on and cracked out a good routine to earn her place. Mark Pennell became the Novice champion 2002 and the wining team was Sarah Romano, Louise Pennell, Luke Jessop and Katherine Hill. The Best Achevenment award went to Zoe-ann Cross who has got the Grade 1 in less than 18-months and the Most Improved award to Katherine Hill who has got to grade 3 this year and is now doing many sommersaults/new moves. <pictures> |
| 28/12/01 | At the divisional
schools competition 3 of the clubs members have qualified for the next (Zonal) round to be
held in February 2002. Matt Apsinall (twice National Champion at U15 in this event) scored
well and his 2nd place ensured a good start to his hatrick bid. Zoe-anne Cross also
did well and passed to the second round as did Lauren Abery in the U11 group. Other
unplaced competitors were Sarah Romarno, Sarah Parker, Natelie Hill, Katie Aldworth &
Cale Cross. Well done to you all and have fun in February. |
| 5/11/01 | On the weekend of 28th October, in
a recent National qualifying event at Chippenham sports centre, performers from Hi-Tension
Trampoline Club (Colchester
Leisure World) competed well with 2 out of the 5 competitors qualifying for the
National Finals. The
Grade 2 event is the first National level competition for trampolining in the UK and had a
tough field of 300+ competitors from all over the UK. The clubs first success came from Zoe-ann Cross, from Marks Tey, who not only qualified for the Grade 2 National Finals but also qualified for Grade 1 the pinnacle of trampolining Grades in the UK. Natalie Hill, from Layer de la Haye, also so did very well and qualified for the Grade 2 National finals, which take place in Hull in a months time. Crystelle Mills a coach at the Hi-Tension club did a very credible performance and scored enough to retain her Grade 2 status. The other competitors were Bethany Aspinall (Marks Tey) and Rebecca Griggs (Stanway) who both unlucky on this occasion. David Allworthy a coach at the club said " the Grade 2 events are very tough and all the club performers did very well, the added bonus of two qualifiers was very pleasing". |
| 7/10/01 | The club had mixed
fortunes at the recent Brentwood Open competition but came in forth on the medals list, a brilliant acheivement. There were many top ten competitors in the competition at all age groups. The club shows much character and determination against such strong opposition and many came out on top. Personal goals were more the order of the day. Those that did come away with medals and trophies WELL DONE. Those that didn't never mind it was a very tough competition , keeping working hard and better luck next time. Results Brentwood Open 2001 |
| 24/9/01 | Jenny Pizzuto's dedicated trampoline centre is now open, on severals industrial estate, Colchester. The centre ' Bounceability Ltd ' covers courses and special needs classes. It will soon also host coach training courses etc. www.bounceability.co.uk |
| 12/07/01 | Dave and Matt plus
coaches and supporters went to the Grade 1 nationals Finals in Birmingham National Indoor
Arena. As usual the competition was of a very high standard. Dave eventually came in 22nd
out of 39 and Matt was came 13th out of 17, mainly beaten on tariff. Dave competed the
highest ever club tariff at 10.9. Well done to you both as just getting there is a big acheivement. |
| 29/06/01 | The grading at
Ipswich was the best day for the club in a long while. Some truly excellent results. Results Well Done to you all. |
| 29/06/01 | The last grade 1 event at Elmbridge was very hot and despite a brave effort Louise was unable to score enough in her set routine to qualify for the finals. This means Dave and Matt now go to Birmingham NIA on the 7,8 July 2001. Well done Louise and good luck in the finals boys. |
| 17/4/01 | Congratulations to
Jasmin Roerig for her personal achievement and contribution to the National Colleges Team
Winners 2001. Jasmin was part of a team which won the National Finals 2 weekends ago. Well Done Jasmin. |
| 27/3/01 | After the 1st two
Grade 1 events our intrepid performers have had mixed fortunes. Dave having not performed too well at Grantham, improved at Southend to score 56.1 and qualified for the Grade 1 O18 National finals. Well Done Dave. Matt having scored (overall) enough to stay up in Grade 1 and enough for national finals , but did not achieve the 24.0 set score required. Not feeling 100% fit at Southend gave a similar result. However Matt made the top ten (again) and produced an improved final voluntary routine. Keep it up Matt you will get there. Louise scored 53.3 at Grantham (needs 53.4 to stay up) but jumped out of her socks at Southend to add 0.9 onto her score (with no extra moves). Her total of 54.3 was 0.2 away from national finals qualification. Louise you were robbed, keep at it cause it was very close. Well done to you all I am very proud of your endeavours, with a bit more push you could all be at Birmingham NIA. |
| 23/3/01 | Wow Matt does it
again. ... Matt Aspinall has won the U15 schools national finals in Chippenham. He beat a
strong field on pure merit. Having scored 8.8's in the set this put him within striking
distance of the title. A good voluntary brought home the title for the second year running
with an overall margin of 0.4. Well Done Matt!!! pic |
| 11/3/01 | Wow!!....did you guys
do good at the Ipswich Open!!. The final results are now in our hands and will be put up
very soon on this web site. The way you all went for your routines was great and for some
it produced a medal or a good placing. The 1st timers Jack and Sophie also did very well. Keep focusing on your routines and the shapes, lift etc at the results will come. Well Done to you all...Clive |
| 31/1/01 | Wow did you know that
the club has had two national finalist qualifiers in 2001 already????..... Jasmin Roerig has qualified for the National Colleges finals, which take place in April 2001. Matthew Aspinall has qualified for the National Schools finals, which take place in on the 18th March 2001. Matthew defends his national title from last year. Well done to you both and good luck in the finals!!. |
| 20/11/00 | The club championship
2000 had all the drama of any competition with some good and no-so-good results reflecting
the nature of the sport....i.e. difficult to get right all the time. This years winner was
Zoe-anne Cross, a relative new comer to the club and the sport.Well Done Zoe-anne! Full
results will be put up in due course. Many thanks to all those who took part, parents who came to watch, helped to set it all up, all the coaches for their work and most of all to the competitors for giving us a splendid display!.Results Pictures |
| 25/07/00 | Liz Norton , Linda
Roerig and Laura Bassilious all attended the latest judges course last weekend. All
enjoyed the course and (albeit un-confirmed) have passed. Well Done Ladies!. Clive has finally passed the Senior Coach Award (albeit un-confirmed). This has taken some 4 years to do all the modules. This now formally allows Clive to coach most common double somersaults with and without twist plus associated progressions. Clive would like to thank Dave for attending all the modules over the past years. Clive hopes to go on to do his coach Tutor award at some point in the future.Well Done Clive!. Sue Waller -Toyne recently attended the Advanced Coach part 2(a) course at Potton.. This involves Rudy and Full Twisting back somersaults plus associated progressions. This leaves Sue with the Advanced Part 2(b) to complete the Advanced Coach Award. Well Done Sue! |
| 10/7/00 | Dave, Matt and a
small band of coaches and supporters went to the the Grade 1 National Finals in Sheffield
at the weekend. The standard of the competition was very high and the scoring even higher
than last year. Matt came a very credible =7th in the U15 boys section. He got into the top ten in 8th place after the first day. This is by far the best finishing position by a Hi - Tension competitor at National level. Dave completed his set and vol (not the 10.1 routine) and finished 21st in the O18 section. Dave had a rough ride to these finals and hopes he can better this next year, with more regular training in the new look sessions. Well done lads you did us proud. Now is the time for all to knuckle down to getting the tariff up for next season. |
| 29/6/00 | Dave Allworthy hit at all time
high in training on Thursday night. He completed a 10.1 tariff routine for the first time
ever. Rudy Out (P) Well Done Dave...phew.... |
| 22/6/00 | Due to Dave moving to another job and the need to focus training by Grade (especially Grade 1) the coaches have agreed a reorganisation of the sessions and coaches. Most of the club remains unaffected although the main club session on a Sunday will move to 11pm to 1pm. A paper briefing, with details, will come out tonight. |
| 11/6/00 | The grading at Potter Bar produced a mixed bunch of results. The highlights where Amber Roerig qualified for Grade 2 and sister Jasmin qualified for Grade 3. Others had a mixture of fortunes. Yet again the coaches talked of how proud they were of the performers, their attitude in success/defeat and the eagerness to do well. Going wrong can be disheartening and in this sport it is easy to go wrong. There are no second chances on the day. But one day.......just one day it does all come together......if you work hard enough and want it badly enough. Keep practising and well done to all. |
| 23/5/00 | Matt Aspinall has
qualified for the Grade 1 National Finals. A set score of 24.6 and a total of 55.1 ensured
his place. Failing to complete the final routine shifted him from 4th place to10th on
the day. He now joins Dave in Sheffield in July for the finals. This is the first time
the club has two people at this level. Louise Norton also did very well in the tough U15
group. She completed her routines to a good standard and scored the 52.2 she needed to
stay up in Grade 1 next season. Dave Allworthy scored a total of 56.7 to enable him to complete at MENS in the final Manchester qualifier. Dave did his best set routine ever scoring 8.5's.!! He was in 1st place going into the finals but was unable to complete the final routine. It is tough at Grade 1...the club is very proud of these achievements and hopes that these 3 will continue to compete at this level and get better and better, and be joined by others in the club.... |
| 22/5/2000 | The dance night
was a big success. A good crowd combined with a good band ensured a great evening. The
club made a good profit as well which is great. Many thanks go to Debbie Griggs for setting up the whole event and Mick Aspinall for the BBQ and selling tickets to half of Marks Tey. Also thanks to those who sold tickets, gave prizes, did the door, decorated the raffle prizes and helped with set-up BBQ and clear up. |
| 10/5/2000 | Big push
please on tickets for the 20th May 60's Dance Night. All families in the club are required to sell at least 2 tickets. The club needs the funds continuously and although it is more of a social event we must at least cover the costs.Ask friends, aunts, uncles and family members....come on it will be a fun night even for those not that keen on the Beatles. |

won the National Schools final in the U15 Boys age group. The event took place in
Newcastle on Saturday 25th March. Matt was in 4th place after the set routines. He performed a good voluntary, when the leader failed to complete his voluntary. Matt held his together very well to win the event. This is Matts (and the clubs) second national title. Well Done Matt. |

| 27/11/99 | Wow!! Matt Aspinall won the B National finals U15 event. Matt won the event after going into the final top 10 jump off, in 2nd place (by 0.3). A cracking final voluntary put Matt into winning place by some 1.6 marks. Louise Norton came 17th out of 52!! and qualified for Grade A.She was only 0.6 off the top ten. Bethany came 42nd in her first ever National finals and did well in a very tough group. What a great day for these kids and a great day for the club..... |
| 22/11/99 | The club competition was a
really successful day afternoon with hot competition for the title. Matt Aspinall
successfully defended his title against his runner-up sister Bethany Aspinall but only by
0.3 of a mark!!. Amber Roerig was equal second but on crankback to the set score was
declared 3rd place. Many club challenges were completed by many people over the past

Sarah Parker, x , y, z, This event represented the most successful season in the clubs history and no less than 6 people making a National final this year!! |
