MindField Level Builder - Installation
A level builder Java application can be downloaded together with this Applet. If you design a challenging (soluble) level that you would like to share, I will incorporate it into future uploads and acknowledge your contribution.
Unzip the contents of mindfield.zip into a suitable folder.
The MindField applet should run in any browser but the builder requires Java Run-time Environment JRE 1.3. This can be downloaded from the Java Plug-in home page http://java.sun.com/products/plugin.
The files in mindfield.zip are:
mfield.jar
bfield.jar
mfieldjar.html
builder.bat
The builder creates a text file TestLevel.txt that can be played from the MindField applet. This is achieved by pressing F5 at the start-up screen, or after finishing or quitting a level. MindField and Builder can run simultaneously. Create and test a level by flitting back and forth between the two windows. By pressing Q (to quit the level) followed by F5, MindField will instantly run the currently saved builder screen.
The builder is fairly intuitive to use. Essentially, you select an icon from the RHS and place it by clicking on the grid. A level must have exactly one player and one exit, otherwise the file can't be saved. (The exit is the darker of the two star shapes).
