A MORRIS DANCERS LAMENT <P>

1. Oh its 39 years I've been dancing; <BR>          
And 39 years still to go; <BR>         
All for starting at school at eleven;  <BR>       
It was compulsory then don't you know. <BR>

And its ding dong those bells over England <BR>
Its ding dong those bells through the day<BR> 
Its to preserve England's finest tradition, <BR>
That we damage our bodies this way.<BR> 
<BR>
2. The earlier years were the bestest <BR>         
I could dance all day long with no pain; <BR>         
Fuelled only with Wadsworth, very finest;   <BR>       
With my weight there was no loss or gain, <BR>
<BR>
3. Joining the band was a God-send;  <BR>        
Long breaks l can get through the day; <BR>         
My advice to all ageing dancers, <BR>         
Is for Christsake learn something to play. <BR>
<BR>
4. The Rumford lads are the greatest; <BR>         
With too many stories to say, <BR>         
From muesli to Sheffield Town Centre, <BR>         
Now strike up the band and lets play....  <BR>
