We are a four piece band, with caller, based in South Essex specialising in barn dances from England, Ireland and Scotland.
Our extensive repertoire of dances and tunes also
includes some lively international material as well as unusual arrangements of more popular tunes. The band's style is rather unique, being influenced by folk, rock and jazz music.
The band was originally formed in 1992 and sprung out of the Rumford Morris Men. Melodeon player Colin Garrett recruited various musicians from the morris and his own sons to play a PTA dance in Stanford-le-hope, Essex. The caller for the evening was Richard Epps, a friend of the bands original guitar player, and he continues to be the band's preferred front man.
The dance was a great success and prompted further gigs locally and further afield. The personel has changed over the years, Colin Garrett still leads the band with his two sons and son-in-law in the line-up. The back line have their own band now called The Retrotones with their own brand of uncompromising rock music.
